My side project for the past month has been Everycol, a browser-based game for riding real-world cycling routes in high-fidelity 3D.
I love cycling but rarely ride outdoors since becoming a dad, and got bored of the same routes in Zwift, TrainerRoad, etc. In Everycol, I'm adding new routes from around the world a few times per week, with scenery customized to each region.
Under the hood, it's a custom graphics engine in Rust, compiled to Wasm and running on WebGPU
Everything runs on cloudflare, including Durable Objects for multiplayer stuff. Limited to only browsers supporting web bluetooth (Chrome, Edge) for now.
It's been really fun to mix software w/ my one touch g̶r̶a̶s̶s̶ asphalt hobby
If you ride indoors too, try it out and LMK what you think!
